When designing the Pilot, lead designer Albert Y. combined military equipment details from World War II with modern lightweight technology and the Molle concept, creating a bag that can adapt to outdoor photography, travel, and adventure use. Optional Pocket Modules can be attached to the front of the bag and also used separately as a carry case.

With a bulky bag to carry throughout a day of shooting, photographers often suffer from back and shoulder pain. To alleviate the increasing pain, the lightweight Pilot is designed with a soft, comfortable latex foam shoulder pad and uses swivel carabiners at both ends of the shoulder straps, allowing the pilot to stand upright and distribute the weight evenly while being carried.

The fabric is made of lightweight Cordura and is at least 60 percent thinner than traditional canvas, 50 percent lighter, 10 times more durable and also tear-resistant.
