Which photo frame suits your photos?

What is a digital photo frame and when do you choose one?
A digital photo frame is a screen that plays your photos as a slideshow. Practical if you don't want to choose one image but want to show your entire collection. Modern digital photo frames support wifi, have screen resolutions up to Full HD or higher and are easy to operate via an app. Good to know: the screen resolution and size (often 7, 10 or 15 inches) largely determine the image quality. A large screen with a low resolution quickly gives a grainy result, so always pay attention to both specs together.
Photo albums: analogue storage in a digital world
A photo album has something that no digital screen can match: you can leaf through it and write text or dates next to it. Photo albums come in two main types: slip-in albums with fixed plastic pockets for quick and orderly storage, and scrapbooks with loose pages for creative layouts.
To fix photos in a scrapbook you need photo adhesives (photo corners) or photo glue. Photo adhesives are repositionable and won't damage your photos. Photo glue is permanent and suitable when you're sure how you want to build the page and don't want to change it.
Poster hangers: hanging large prints without a frame
Do you have a poster or fine-art print you want to hang without a heavy frame? Poster hangers, also called poster rails or clip hangers, are ideal for this. You don't cut anything, you don't prick anywhere: the print is clamped at the top and bottom between two magnetic or wooden strips. The result is clean, minimalist and easy to change when you want to hang a new print.
How do you best store and present your photos?
The way you store or present your photos affects how long they look good. Keep prints away from direct sunlight and moisture. Use acid-free materials in albums. Choose frames with UV-protective glass for valuable prints. For digital storage, back up your photos in at least two locations.

Regular glass reflects light, which can be distracting in bright rooms. Anti-reflective glass strongly reduces glare and lets colours come through better. For valuable or large prints, anti-reflective glass, especially in combination with UV protection, is the better choice.
A digital photo frame is a screen on which you load photos via a memory card, USB stick or wifi. Via an app or touchscreen you set which photos are displayed, how long each image is visible and whether you want to show captions. Some models also support videos or cloud connections such as Google Photos.
Yes, photo adhesives (photo corners) are specially designed to attach photos without damaging them. They are reusable and leave no adhesive residue. If you do want to glue or paste, don't use standard tape or craft glue on photos, as this damages the paper and emulsion over time.
A slip-in album has fixed plastic pockets into which you slide photos. This works quickly and neatly and is perfect for large quantities of photos in one format. A scrapbook has loose pages on which you can freely place photos, add captions and incorporate decoration. Scrapbooks give more creative freedom but take more time.
Measure the width of your print and choose a poster hanger that exactly matches that width or is a maximum of 1–2 cm narrower, so the clamp board provides sufficient tension. Also pay attention to the weight: heavier paper types (200 g/m² and more) require more robust hangers with strong magnets or screws.
An A4 print measures 21×29.7 cm. You then need a photo frame of at least 21×30 cm. If you want to add a passe-partout, choose a frame of 30×40 cm or larger, so there is enough space around the print.
