Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75mm f/1.8 Nikon Z black
The Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75mm f/1.8 lens (Nikon Z) in black is an exceptionally fast portrait lens for full-frame cameras — exclusively for the Nikon Z mount. It is a Voigtländer full-frame interchangeable lens equipped with a mechanism for targeted correction of spherical aberration, opening up entirely new creative possibilities in image composition.
The development focused on the interplay between spherical aberration and bokeh. A specially developed adjustment ring allows under- and over-correction to be set with precision — creating completely different bokeh characteristics:
- Under-correction: Soft focus with subtle haloes, dreamy, creamy background bokeh
- Over-correction: Sharp focus with striking, bubble-like bokeh
What was long considered a shortcoming of classical optics is here deliberately used as a means of creative expression. The Portrait Heliar has been designed from the ground up to harness these characteristics creatively.
Despite the compact Heliar design with 6 lenses in 3 groups, the lens achieves an impressive maximum aperture of f/1.8. Changes in spherical aberration are usually accompanied by focus shifts — Voigtländer compensates for this effect with an advanced mechanism that adjusts the lens distance in sync with the position of the adjustment ring, keeping focus stable.
A subtle, tactile marking on the adjustment ring allows you to feel the set correction range — ideal for intuitive working.
The lens is constructed entirely from metal and impresses with the highest mechanical quality. The extremely precise metal helicoid is specially lubricated, delivering a silky-smooth, even focusing action — even at maximum aperture and minimal depth of field.
Electronic contacts enable the transfer of Exif data and support in-camera functions such as focus magnification and image stabilisation (with compatible cameras). Mechanical aperture control is handled in the classic manner via an aperture ring directly on the lens; 9 aperture blades ensure a particularly harmonious and aesthetically pleasing rendering of out-of-focus circles.
