The Voigtlander Nokton 1.5/28 mm Type II VM aspherical is an interchangeable lens designed exclusively for full frame cameras with a VM lens mount. This lens is an addition within the Vintage Line series. The wide-angle lens combines three elements, namely a large maximum aperture of f/1.5, excellent optical performance and compact dimensions. With an aperture of f/1.5, the lens is very fast for a 28-millimetre wide-angle. In addition, the lens features a length of 45.5 millimetres which promotes portability and you can easily combine it with 43 millimetre lens filters.

The classically designed lens features an optical design with 10 elements divided into 8 groups and double-sided aspherical lens elements. As a result, the lens delivers excellent optical performance even when set wide open at F1.5. The minimum focusing distance is 50 centimetres and by using a helicoid that can be moved further, it is possible to focus from 70 centimetres. This depends on the camera paired with the rangefinder.

The Type I is made of aluminium and weighs 250 grams. The Type II is made of brass and has a tactile quality due to its higher weight of 330 grams. The styling of Type I is reminiscent of modern classic lenses from the 1970s in matt black or silver lacquer, while Type II is reminiscent of the famous lenses from the 1960s and is available in both black lacquer and silver finish. The optional LH-6 notched lens hood fits both Type I and Type II.

In addition, Type II includes a focusing knob that offers an alternative manual focusing experience. The accessory knob can be attached to the focus lever by loosening the screw in the finger groove and reattaching it with the new knob. The focus knob is metal and focuses the lens about 1 metre from the lens mount when turned to the 6 o'clock position, allowing the user to determine focus by the angle of the knob.
