The Sony ECM-W5 Wireless Transmitter is the transmitter of the ECM-W5 wireless microphone system. You wear it or clip it onto your subject and capture the sound wirelessly on the receiver. At the same time, the transmitter records onboard in 32-bit float on its 64 GB internal storage, so you always have a reliable backup, even independently of the camera. You can choose between 32-bit float at 48 kHz or 24-bit at 48 or 96 kHz.

The wireless transmission is built on Bluetooth LE Audio and reaches up to 500 metres with a clear line of sight, even in busy environments. The transmitter has a built-in microphone and a 3.5 mm input with plug-in power and locking, to which you can connect a lavalier microphone such as the Sony ECM-L1 for discreet, close-mic recordings. Within the ECM-W5 system, you work with up to four transmitters at the same time for recordings with several people, up to four channels simultaneously.

If you buy the transmitter separately, you can expand an existing ECM-W5 set for more speakers or replace a transmitter. For wireless recording in the camera, combine it with an ECM-W5 receiver.
