The lens features a robust magnesium construction, which contributes to its dust- and splash-proof design. In addition, the front lens element is coated with an oil- and water-repellent coating, ensuring top performance even in the worst weather conditions. The optical design comprises 24 elements in 22 groups, including 10 ELD elements, which minimise chromatic aberrations to an absolute minimum. Image stabilisation is handled by the intelligent OS system with an acceleration sensor.
