The 17-40mm also produces beautiful bokeh thanks to its 11 rounded aperture blades.

The SIGMA 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art builds on the 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art, released thirteen years earlier. The 17-40mm offers even better optical performance, a wider zoom range, and a weight saving of more than 30%. The lens is more compact than its predecessor, making it perfect for travel, everyday photography, and video work where mobility is essential.

The SIGMA 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art features an exceptionally fast and quiet autofocus system thanks to the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator), ideal in situations where absolute silence is important. The lens has an internal zoom design that is equally convenient when used on a gimbal, tripod, or handheld — the overall length of the lens remains constant during zooming or focusing. The 17-40mm has a highly advanced optical construction and is equipped with Super Multi-Layer Coating. It consists of 17 elements in 11 groups, including 4 SLD and 4 aspherical lens elements. This results in an extremely precise, sharp, and clear lens that accurately corrects chromatic aberrations and lens flare. It is dust- and splash-resistant and features a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element, keeping you prepared for changing weather conditions.

The SIGMA 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art is fully customisable to suit your workflow. On the side and top of the lens you'll find an AFL button, to which you can assign specific functions via your camera for optimal control from any angle. The lens also features a clickable aperture ring with an on/off switch and a locking mechanism to prevent unintentional adjustments.

The zoom range of the SIGMA 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art (25.5–60mm in full-frame equivalent) makes this lens an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications, from wide-angle to portrait.
