The Hoya 77mm UV-IR Filter is a filter that, when attached to your front lens, only allows the visible spectrum of light rays captured by the sensor to pass through. The filter blocks both the higher-frequency ultraviolet rays and the lower-frequency infrared rays. This is important for photographers using a digital camera, as the CCD and CMOS sensors in these cameras are highly sensitive to UV and IR radiation from just outside the visible spectrum. This can have a very negative impact on the image quality of your shots.

Features of the Hoya 77mm UV-IR

This filter offers even more possibilities than existing UV-IR filters thanks to its front and rear threads. This allows you to attach multiple filters simultaneously for even more filter effects, whilst a standard lens cap can still fit on the lens. Another advantage of using the UV-IR filter is that it can reduce the effect of atmospheric haze to a greater extent than a standard UV filter. This means that by using this filter you can achieve sharper images with greater depth and finer, richer colour gradations.
