The 40.5mm Hoya HDX UV filter is a UV filter of absolute top quality. Hoya itself even describes the HDX series as 'Best filter performance in history'. The filter is made from specially hardened optical glass, giving it 4x the tensile strength of traditional filters. It has been specifically designed for today's digital market, where sensors are more sensitive to reflected light than in the analog era. The Hoya HDX filter features special coatings that reduce internal reflections, delivering a clearer, brighter, and sharper image. The multi-coating in the HDX filter consists of 8 (!) layers on each side. This ensures maximum optical performance and a light transmission of no less than 99.4%. It also makes the filter water-, dirt-, and scratch-resistant, making it more pleasant to use and longer lasting.

The mount is made from highly durable black anodised aluminium, which fully seals the filter glass, preventing moisture and light from entering unintentionally. The mount is also extra slim, so you won't experience any vignetting, which is a common issue with many cheaper filters. This makes it extremely suitable for use with wide angle lenses as well.
