How do you set the shutter speed for a video?
When making videos with a still camera, the three components of the exposure triangle are very important. We start with the shutter speed. When making video, you adjust your shutter speed to your frame rate. Simply put: the number of frames the camera captures per second. If there is a lot of movement in the video, choose a slow shutter speed. This ensures that the images are displayed smoothly.
If you want to create a guideline for yourself, in principle always choose a shutter speed that is double your frame rate. This ensures the most natural motion blur. So if you film at 25 fps, your shutter speed is always 1/50th of a second. Which aperture do you choose?
The second component of the exposure triangle: aperture. This component influences the amount of light that falls on your camera's sensor. If you have chosen a fast shutter speed, the aperture can ensure that enough light still reaches the sensor. However, be aware that working with a large aperture can result in not everything being captured in focus. Do you always want well-exposed images? Then consider purchasing a film light .
ISO value, what do you do with it?
The final component of the exposure triangle: ISO value. This component influences the light sensitivity of the sensor. For filming, it is particularly important to keep in mind that the ISO is very easily affected by the environment. Does it suddenly get dark outside? Then this is the first thing you need to adjust. Do be careful not to set the ISO too high, as this can cause a lot of noise in your footage. To prevent this and avoid coming home with unusable footage, opt for other lighting solutions in dark spaces, such as additional lighting using LED lights. Lenses
The choice of lens naturally depends on the type of film you are going to make. Do you not want to zoom? Then prime lenses are perfect. These lenses deliver better optical quality because there is no zoom option. Would you prefer to be able to zoom while filming? That is of course possible, but be aware that image distortion may occur and that you should choose lenses with a fixed aperture for stable light intensity.
Microphones and audio equipment

External microphones help you improve sound quality. Are you mainly going to be recording interviews? Then choose directional microphones. These are perfect for targeted sound recording. Lighting plays an important role in creating usable shots. You can do a lot by adjusting camera settings, but that is not always enough. That is why film lights are indispensable if you want to take filmmaking more seriously. You have a choice of two types of lights: camera lights, which you can mount on the camera itself, and studio lights, which you connect to the camera and place in the studio where you will be shooting the footage.
Stabilizer
This accessory has become indispensable in the film world: the stabilizer. Using a stabilizer does require some practice. It is important to walk slowly. However, it is even better to use, for example, a skateboard or a bicycle. Lying in the trunk of a moving car is of course possible, but always think of your own safety. Once you have mastered this, there is another challenge: keeping the focus in the right place. Our advice is to use autofocus while using the stabilizer. Image stabilization and a stabilizer do not go together, so always switch off the stabilization on your camera and/or lens, because the stabilizer corrects enough. Using it twice can actually create more motion blur.
Other accessories
Of course, there are many other accessories that can further assist you when filming with your camera. In addition to audio equipment, lenses, and lights, it helps to consider the type of neutral density filters you want to use. These filters help you control the amount of light falling on the lens. Memory cards are also important if you have decided to start filming with your camera. Video files are much larger than photos, so a high write speed is of great importance. Tip: Always order Class 10 memory cards for filming; that way, you're guaranteed to be covered.
