Want to get started with macro photography, but not quite sure what you need? We’re happy to help you on your way with this selection of must-haves for macro photography.

Macro lenses

For good, beautiful close-up photos, you need a dedicated macro lens. With this lens, you can get very close to your subject, bringing even the smallest details into sharp focus. Think of water droplets on blades of grass or the eyes of an insect. The lenses below deliver very sharp images and are available with Canon, Sony and Nikon mounts. Tripods & support

In macro photography, even the slightest movement can cause blur. A good tripod is therefore essential. Choose one that can get low to the ground, or go for a compact tabletop tripod for when you’re on the move. With a focusing rail, you can focus even more accurately. Not sure which type suits you? Extension tubes

Want to try macro photography without spending a lot? An extension tube is placed between your lens and camera body. This allows you to get closer to your subject and increases the magnification of your lens. This way, you can already take beautiful macro photos with a standard lens. Lighting

In macro photography, your camera can quickly cast a shadow over your subject. Good light is therefore essential. With a compact LED light or ring flash, you can illuminate every detail. A reflector helps you make optimal use of the available light.

Filters

Close-up filters simply screw onto your lens like any other filter. They shorten the focal distance, allowing you to focus sharply from closer up. Small, light and easy to take with you. Ideal as an addition to your current lens.

Cable releases

With a cable release, you prevent vibrations when pressing the shutter button. Even the slightest vibration can cause blur. Combined with a good tripod, you achieve the sharpest results. Our own Kamera Express remotes are competitively priced and always in stock.
